What is Social Media Week
Social Media Week London is a week long conference that provides the ideas, trends, insights and inspiration to help people and businesses understand how to achieve more in a hyper-connected world. The event features an official event and a series of independent events. We explore the intersection of social technology and creativity with a week of presentations, masterclasses, demos, workshops, conversations, and interactive events.
When does it take place?
The official event sessions takes place from Tuesday Sept. 12th to Friday Sept. 15th, 2017.
The independent events take place all through the week of Monday Sept. 11th to Friday Sept. 15th.
Do I require a Pass to attend?
The official events sessions do requires a full week HQ Pass to attend (get your pass here). The HQ Pass grants access to the official event sessions and opening and closing parties, but not to the independent events. There are no day or session passes available.
Passes are non-refundable and non-transferable.
HQ Passes will be available for pickup at BFI Southbank. Upon arriving to the BFI, simply just display a valid photo ID or passport to our check-in staff and we’ll provide you with your #SMWLDN badge for Official Events. Pass pick up will be open on:
BFI – Foyer entrance, next to the Box Office
- Mon Sept. 11: 12.00pm to 5.00pm
BFI – Riverfront Cafe Entrance
- Tue Sept. 12: 8.15am to 5.00pm
- Wed Sept. 13: 8.15am to 5.00pm
- Thu Sept. 14: 8.30am to 5.00pm
- Fri Sept. 15: 8.30am to 12.00pm
Independent events require that attendees pre-register individually for each one of them. You can do so from the Schedule page and clicking on the “register” button on each session.
Are there reserved seats? What happens if an event is Sold Out?
Access to sessions of the official programme are on a first come/first served basis, so make sure you show up early for those sessions you really don’t want to miss in order to secure your seat.
If an independent event is sold out, you can try to contact the organiser directly to see if they have any last minute cancellations (look for the “Contact Event Organizer” button at the end of each event’s description page).
Where are the events hosted? What’s the official venue?
The official venue or “HQ” is BFI Southbank.
The entrance and registration will be through the clearly branded glass doors at BFI Southbank, Belvedere Rd, London SE1 8XT, London.
Independent events are hosted in different venues throughout London. For more information, check out the details on each independent event.
You can check out the programme of the event here. You can see all events by date or filter between official and independent events. (Hint: the date of the official sessions are indicated in colour, the date of the independent events are indicated in light grey).
There won’t be a printed programme as it would be difficult to reflect last minute updates. We recommend that you either bookmark the schedule page on your computer or mobile device and that you download SMW’s mobile App.
