The majority of Americans favor immigration reform. Some of the most outspoken immigration reform advocates, the young people known as DREAMERS, are extensive and savvy users of technology and social platforms. Yet Congress’ failure to reform immigration laws begs the question: Is social media an effective tool for creating the change we want to see in the world? Our panelists believe in the power of social media, even when change doesn’t immediately follow the tapping of “send.” However there’s room for improvement and our panelists will address how learning from online experiences, engaging in activities on the ground and telling the stories of individual people can make the dreamers in all of us more persuasive.
