Gabriela Sabaté is an entrepreneur and executive with strategy, operating, venture capital, and turnaround experience in a variety of organizational settings: large, public companies, and entrepreneurial ventures in Tech, Healthcare IT, Mobile, and Telecommunications.
Currently Founder and CEO of Health Semantics, which develops healthcare applications and tech services for preventive medical care and disease management, with a focus on chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and dyslipidemia, among others.). She was Chairman and CEO of Tiaxa, current leader in mobile software and services. Redefined its product offering, restructuring the company onto a path of profitability and global expansion.
Headed the Miami office at Softbank Latin America ($150 million Softbank venture capital fund in 5 countries) as Executive Director, led investments in mobile and tech, and served in the Board of Directors of 5 of its portfolio companies. Before Softbank, she spent 16 years as a technologist in IT and telecommunications, founded an Internet incubator in South Florida and was part of the founding team of Structured Intelligence, a roll-up of systems integrators in Latin America. As General Manager and CTO for GBM Corp/IBM Central America, a LBO of 8 IBM country operations, she led data communications, networking, Internet, and payments lines of business. Led the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Division in IBM Corporation (South Cone Latam) and had systems engineering roles in IBM and Hewlett-Packard.
Held positions in the board of directors of the South Florida Technology Alliance, Miami Internet Alliance, FIU’s NetBiz Challenge, non-profit educational initiatives. Was featured in CNN Español, América Economía, and WSJ. Was board advisor and speaker at tech conferences in Latin America and the US.
