Brian Andrews is a media strategy and crisis communications consultant based in Miami, where he spent many years as a well-known newscaster appearing on WFOR, WSVN, andWPLG.   He also serves as an appointed member of the Miami-Dade County Film and Entertainment Commission Advisory Board and is a member of the National Association of Government Communicators and the American Association of Political Consultants.   Brian’s clients include numerous municipalities, law firms, political campaigns, and media companies.    Police Departments often call upon Brian for specialized training seminars attended by Command Staff and Public Information Officers on how to deal with critical incidents and crisis media situations.   

Before starting his consulting business in early 2015, Brian was one of the marquis personalities on Miami’s CBS4 News. He reported on some of the area’s biggest stories as a veteran Miami street reporter and provided promotable “special projects” pieces.   He also served as weekend anchor. Whether it was breaking news, politics, a huge international story, or a major storm, South Florida viewers were used to seeing Brian on the story. During his many years on Miami Television, he reported from Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. Brian’s reporting has also been seen on CBS News, CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, The Fox News Channel, CBC Canada, WCBS-TV, and WNYW-TV, and WWOR-TV.

In 2007, Brian’s passion for reporting the news and interest in developing new forms of programming took him to Latin America. His work with RCN made him one of the most recognized “gringos” in Colombia. He developed “RCN Noticias en Ingles” which ran for several years as a segment in the network’s main newscasts.  He also served as News Director. In 2010, “Noticias en Ingles” expanded beyond Colombia into a regional version covering all Latin American countries for NTN24, RCN’s all-news channel. After RCN, he continued producing special programming projects in spanish and english for Version Libre, a production company run by Veteran Journalist Jose Gomez Daza in Barranquilla, Colombia which produces TeleCaribe’s nightly “Las Noticias a las 6:30.”

Brian also spent time as a documentary consultant and field producer for Caracol Television. In addition, he’s served as a freelance Correspondent for CBS News, CBS Radioand The Miami Herald. Brian also volunteered as an Ambassador for Colombia Tourism and the Pro-Export “Colombia is Passion” campaign. He was featured as the voice of the famous animated monkey in RCN’s World Cup coverage in 2010 and one of the face’s of an image campaign for Colombian designer Carlos Nieto.

Reporting the news has been Brian’s passion since he was a child. He had his own radio show at the age of 13. At 18, while attending Georgia State University in Atlanta, he joined the staff of the now-defunct CNN Radio Network. After several years of working almost every job in the radio division, he made the transition to the TV side of CNN, at 21, becoming an anchor of the Emmy-nominated “CNN Newsroom” program, aimed at young viewers in schools throughout the world. After Atlanta, it was on to Miami, where Brian spent nearly 2 decades as a broadcast journalist.   

As a crisis manager and media strategist, Brian has been called upon as a guest speaker for the Dade County Bar Association, University of Miami School of Law, and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce.   He has also been an Media Relations Instructor for the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Training Bureau and the Florida Fire Chiefs’ Association Fire-Rescue EAST.  During his long career in journalism, Brian was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists for his foreign reporting, and by several South Florida federal and local law enforcement agencies for his local reporting and special series. He was also part of the CBS4 team of journalists honored with the Edward R. Murrow Award for Breaking News coverage in 2006.  In 2012, the Palm Beach-Broward New Timesnamed Brian Andrews to it’s list of Best TV News Reporters in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale market.
