When and Where Can I pick up my Pass?

If you’re looking to skip the lines at registration, you can pick up your pass early on either Friday April 20 or Monday April 23 from 11am - 6pm on the 5th Floor of the Sheraton.

You do NOT need to print your email confirmation to pick-up your pass. You can pick-up passes on Friday or Monday on behalf of other members of your group, but please bring a copy of everyone's photo ID (on phone or printed).

When does SMW New York take place?

SMW New York takes place April 23 - April 27, 2018.

All official events will take place at The Sheraton Hotel starting at 9:30am on Tuesday, April 24. You need a Standard or Premium Pass to attend official events at the Sheraton Hotel. There are also Independent Events that occur Monday through Friday of the same week, and use separate registration via the independent event's session page on the schedule.

Where does SMW New York take place?

Official programming will take place at the Sheraton Hotel (811 7th Ave, New York, NY 10019) from Tuesday April 24 through Friday April 27.

The venue will comprise of:

  • 3 main stages, which will hold more than 1100 attendees
  • 2 Exhibitor Halls where technology providers will demo their products throughout the week
  • Simulcasting lounges so that you can check what's happening on different stages
  • The American Express Connection Cafe, with co-working lounges, cafe seating and breakout spaces
  • Tech Showcase featuring VR, AR, visual storytelling, multisensory live experiences and data-driven art installations
  • Multiple coffee stations providing complimentary coffee and refreshments throughout the day

Reminder: Only official events take place at The Sheraton Hotel. Independent Events listed on the schedule and take place throughout the city. Please check the event descriptions for venue info. Your pass does not guarantee entry to these events.

The Sheraton's nearest subway stops are:

Does the Sheraton Hotel offer SMW New York attendees a special rate on rooms?

The discounted rates for hotel rooms have now expired as of April 14, 2018.

Is there a mobile app for Social Media Week?

Yes! We have a new app experience that is provided by our Technology Partner, Topi. The app is now available in iOs and Android.

Activate the app experience:

  • Launch the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Android)
  • Search for "Topi"
  • Login via LinkedIn or Facebook and then enter code "smwnyc". You can also link your SMW account in the profile section of the app.

Does my pass get me into Independent SMW events?

No - Your pass is only for official SMW New York events. Independent Events are run by the larger SMW community, not us. Therefore, while your Standard or Premium pass grants you access to all official (SMW) events, it won’t necessarily get you into Independent Events. For more information on Independent events, please contact the Independent event organizer listed on our schedule.

Can I share my pass with other colleagues throughout the week?

No, every individual that attends official Social Media Week NYC events is required to have his or her own pass. We do not allow multiple individuals to share one pass. There will be attendee check-points and badge monitoring throughout the week.

Can I watch official SMW New York sessions online?

Sessions will not be live streamed publicly. The sessions can be accessed, both LIVE and On-Demand via SMW Insider. All Standard and Premium Passholders should have received instructions on how to subscribe to SMW Insider via email.

Are there food options on site?

We will be providing complimentary coffee onsite for all attendees each morning and water and snacks throughout the day. There are fantastic food options close to each of the venues for breakfast and lunch.

Who attends Social Media Week New York?

The SMW audience is made up of professionals at the intersection of media, marketing and technology across a range of industries including marketing, advertising, communications, media, publishing, technology and entertainment.

Premium passholders have the option of attending CMO Briefings on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 1:10 - 1:15pm where a buffet style lunch will be served complimentary.

Tip: "Bookmark" events on the Agenda page. Bookmarks allow you to easily view and save the events you're most interested in. Are there discounts or scholarships available?

At the moment, our SMW Scholarship Program for students and non-profits is closed. If you're still looking to purchase a pass, you can visit the SMW New York pass options page for the most up to date rates. Email newyork@socialmediaweek.org for any available non-profit discounts.

Is there a coat check at the conference?

There is not a formal coat check at the conference. If you are a Sheraton hotel guest there is a coat check in the lobby reserved only for hotel guests that is available to you. For SMW pass holders that are not hotel guests, there will be various coat racks place throughout the conference space to hang your coat while you watch sessions.
