SMW New York Returns with a New Campus Experience and 20% Discounted Offer

Our primary goal continues to be providing SMW attendees with content and programming at the highest possible standard throughout the week. Over the next few weeks and months leading up to February, we’ll announce more updates on how you and your organization can get involved, events added to the schedule, speakers confirmed to lead sessions, and more SMW New York info.

The New Strategy for SMW New York in 2016

  • More seating capacity
To address demand, especially for Masterclasses, all official programming will be held at two large theaters: The TimesCenter and SVA Theatre.
  • Fewer Available Passes
We believe in quality over quantity, and therefore will reduce the number of available passes to ensure seating for sessions of all interested attendees. This reduction means more space, more seating, and the end of long lines!
  • Two Pass Options
We’re keeping it super simple by offering two options for registering: Campus and Insider Passes. Insider pass holders receive access to official parties and exclusive networking opportunities, and both passes grant you access to official sessions, masterclasses, co-working space, exhibitor installations, and more.
  • Special Discount Offers
The regular rate for the Campus Pass is $799, and $999 for the Insider Pass, but now until January 14th, we’re offering a 20%-off sale for each. You can learn more about the pass options, and register for SMW New York here.

Attendees will be under the same roof as some of the world’s most visionary people and industry leaders connecting through the #SMWNYC pillars:

ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA WEEK NEW YORK IN 2016

Social Media Week is a leading news platform and worldwide conference that curates and shares the best ideas, innovations and insights into how social media and technology are changing business, society and culture around the world.

Human connectivity is being reimagined everyday, and SMW seeks to understand how humanity and technology will come together to change the ways we live, work and create.

Social Media Week New York, now in it’s 8th year, will welcome thousands of attendees from NYC’s top tech, advertising, media, and Internet industries this February 22-26, 2016. You can also learn more about our global theme for Social Media Week in 2016, “The Invisible Hand: Hidden Forces of Technology

5 Amazing Vine-rs in the NOW Studio at SMW

This year, we’re bringing more opportunities than ever for SMW to be a practical and fun experience for you — no matter your level of expertise. So, we sought out the best and most creative in one of the hottest marketing trends: Vine.

These amazing artists are going to be in our NOW Studio, brought to us by Nokia. They’ll be on-hand teaching SMW attendees about creating stop-motion video and all things vinetastic. The NOW Studio is a full video studio focusing on short form video, with some amazingly talented artists who are leading the way in content creation. Come and learn from them or just watch them work!

  1. Yves Das
  2. Jade Butter
  3. Dylan Blau
  4. yelldesigns
  5. Andrew Jive

At SMW, you will have the opportunity to learn from these incredible artists and how you can put short-form video to work for your brand. The NOW Studio will be on the first floor of our venue, located in our Future of Now Exhibition area, where you will be able to network with other SMW attendees, work in the Nokia Work Pods, and buy snacks from the food marketplace.

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be checking out the amazing content on the second and third floors, where masterclasses, panels and keynotes will be taking place. We can’t wait to see you!

Brandwatch Watching Social Media Week

People are conversing constantly online, and that means an increasing likelihood that your brand is being mentioned in places that you aren’t aware of. Who is talking, who is listening, and what do you really need to be paying attention to?

Brandwatch is a software that allows you to access the most relevant conversations happening on social media that impact your brand. Their platform gives you access to all of these data points, so you can slice and dice in the ways that make the most sense for your brand and their intuitive user interface makes it less frustrating to extract the information you need.

They use their own crawlers to look through over 70 million sources, which include blogs, news, forums and major social networks. Additionally, their channels allow the tracking of public Facebook pages, without needing any admin rights. That’s a score for your team.

And we couldn’t be happier to have Brandwatch joining us at Social Media Week Campus on our ground floor and hosting an event. We recommend you hear Will McInnes, CMO at Brandwatch, as he discusses his perspectives on 21st century business and how the internet is radically changing our personal behavior, our organizations and our society. Then, swing by our Future of Now Exhibition area to see them showing us data in real-time about what is happening across the social channels as it relates to SMW. They will monitor social mentions and display items for the top influencers, hashtags and topics. Get people talking about your event, and then see it up on the Brandwatch screen!

Today is the last day to get a campus pass at the current price- the price will go up to the walkup price tomorrow so don’t wait! Check out the schedule for the amazing lineup of speakers and events and make sure to check out our opening night party, hosted by Nokia.

Registration NOW Open & Last Call on Early Bird Discount

Social Media Week is just over a month away. And, as the saying goes, never put off until tomorrow what you can do today—which is register for the events you’d like to attend! That’s right, as of today, attendee registration is open.

Powered globally by Nokia and MKG, this year’s event explores our always on, always connected world through the theme, The Future of Now.

New York will host hundreds of events led by more than 200 unique speakers (including Eli Pariser, Robin Chase, Cindy Gallop, Harper Reed, and Jeffrey Colen), all under one roof at our new Campus at Highline Stages in the Meatpacking District.

We hope you’ll join us. Simply check out the schedule, filter according to your interests and goals, register for the events that pique your curiosity, then share with your friends.

Don’t want to have to choose? (We know, we hate decisions too.) Purchase a pass! Holders of this golden ticket, so to speak, enjoy exclusive benefits, unlimited access to all official events throughout the week, and are sure to deepen their SMW experience. Plus, today is our LAST day to grab our 20% Early Bird Discount.

Events That Pop: Event Submission Tips

We’re planning some exciting changes for SMW13, including hosting all official events in February at a three-floor 50,000 sq.ft. Campus at Highline Stages. Campus will feature three stages on innovation, advertising & marketing, and society & culture; several masterclass and roundtable breakout rooms, an exhibition, and collaborative workspace for attendees to connect at the conference.

As with every SMW, we want you to be a part of it. Event submissions are open until December 6th, and we’re looking forward to some incredible sessions from the SMW NYC community. To ensure you have the best chance of getting your event approved (and increase the likelihood we’ll feature it at Campus), you’ll need some tips and guidance.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when organizing your event and what we’ll be looking for at The Future of Now NYC campus:

TOPICS BY STAGE

+ INNOVATION
Trends & Predictions, Early Stage Innovation, Emerging Technology, The Collaborative Economy, Open Innovation, Internet of Things and Open Data

+ ADVERTISING & MARKETING
Big Data Analytics, Realtime Marketing, Mobile Advertising, Second-Screen Advertising, Storytelling & Content Marketing. Native Adverting, Platforms & Tools, and Future of Media & Publishing

+ SOCIETY & CULTURE
Open Government, Nonprofits & Social Enterprise, Education & E-Learning, Health & Quantified-Self, Design, Art & Film, Fashion, Lifestyle & Food, Music & Entertainment, and The Future of Work

DETAILS

+ CONTENT: Plan event content that pushes boundaries, provides thought leadership and shares fresh insight.
+ THEME: Focus on themes, topics and conversations that serve your audience needs. No sales pitches.
+ STRUCTURE: Encourage interactive discussions and debates through balanced & objective assessment.
+ FORMAT: Consider creative event formats that promote openness, collaboration & inclusivity.
+ SPEAKERS: Select speakers and participants who have proven credibility in their respective fields.
+ MODERATORS: If you have a panel, make sure someone with a strong opinion is driving the conversation.
+ DIVERSITY: Support cultural, ethnic and gender diversity, as well as differing opinions, in your programming and speaker selection.
+ HUMOR: Try to inspire the audience with a bit of comedy. Lightly poking fun at a topic or brand is entertaining.
+ VISUALS: Integrate technology and/or multimedia into your event in value adding ways.
+ PACING: Keep it moving. If attendees are not given something compelling, interactive, or creative, you’ll lose them.
+ TAKEAWAYS: Practical takeaways, instruction, and arming attendees with a skill provides a lasting memory of the event and your brand.

These topics, formats, and devices are just a starting point to organizing your own event, and we’re always excited to see ideas that are outside of what we had anticipated.

Be sure to submit your event here soon and indicate if you would like your event to be considered for our Official Campus. Again, we are considering submissions for Campus on a first-come, first-servce basis.

Event Submissions Open: Your Invitation to Join Us

Over the past 5 years our mission has been to capture, curate and share the most meaningful ideas, trends, and best practices with regard to technology and social media’s impact on business, society and culture.

This February 17-21, together with Nokia, we’ll be bringing SMW14 to multiple cities around the world to explore our new global theme for 2014 The Future of Now. And today we’re inviting you to join us in New York for our 6th annual event.

There are four ways for you to get involved:

  1. Attend & Add to your calendar
  2. Submit an event
  3. Apply to speak (or nominate someone)
  4. Become a brand partner

What does getting involved really mean?

It means that you have an opportunity to join thousands of other leading industry practitioners to help design the SMW experience — as an event partner, speaker, or brand partner. More than 600 organizations hosted more than 1,000 incredible events last February.

THIS is your chance to join the world’s most important event that explores technology’s cultural and economic impact. We want to see you on stage, taking an active role in our February event.

Submissions to host an event or speak will close December 6th — and the earlier you apply, the better chance you have to be approved. You’ll even have the chance to apply to be considered to be hosted at our new Official Campus.

If you need some inspiration or guidance on what we’re looking for, review our Event Submission and Speaker Guide and take a look at this year’s Global Theme “The Future of Now.

We know SMW14 at NYC will be incredible, and we’re looking to you to help bring some of the best ideas forward! Help us take SMW14 to deeper levels.

Welcome Back: The Future of Now & Official Campus at Highline Stages

Social Media Week is built on the belief that we should better understand how technology is compelling us to be always-on and always-connected, and how it is providing new inspiration for how we live, work and create.

The framework for this discussion will be our global theme for 2014: The Future of Now, which will explore the latest ideas, trends, and best practices and how it directly impacts our relationships with and in business, society and culture.

This year, SMW NYC reinvents itself with a new vision for how we can bring people together. Over the course of the week in February, we will gather 10,000 hyper-connected individuals in New York City to discuss how to be MORE present living in our networked age, how to build purpose into our communications, and how to be a more sustainable and connected brand.

INTRODUCING CAMPUS

BLOG_COVER_GRAPHIC-2
For the first time we’re introducing a central campus experience, comprised of three main stages, masterclass workshops, co-working and collaboration spaces, lounges, and private meeting rooms. Campus will also debut the Digital Native Brands Marketplace, which will bring together brands and digitally connected consumers; The Future of Now Public Exhibition, which will show us how global brands are shaping our future; and a CMO Summit exclusively for senior marketers focusing on the future of brand communications. All of this in our new Campus will be hosted at Highline Stages.

As part of this new Campus experience, you will forge new relationships with like-minded professionals, gain insight into how to apply systemic changes to your life and work, and deepen your understanding for what the future will look like. We can’t wait to show it to you.

Join us February 17-21 at Highline Stages to see it in action.
